Die US-Comedy-Serie spielt im "Paddy's", einem kleinen Pub in Philadelphia, der von Dennis Reynolds, seiner Zwillingsschwester Dee sowie von Mac und seinem zurückgebliebenen Bruder Charlie Kelly betrieben wird. Die Kneipe steht ständig kurz vor den Pleite, was kein Wunder ist, denn die Eigentümer geben sich nicht wirklich Mühe, sympathisch zu wirken.
