Charles Duchemin is an extremely busy and preoccupied man: in addition to his forthcoming admission to the Académie Française, he has to put the finishing touches to the '76 edition of his famous guide, a world authority on good taste in gastronomy. Assisted by a crack team, Duchemin uses the most varied disguises (to avoid being granted any favoured treatment) as he trawls through every restaurant and secretly grants (or withdraws) the coveted stars ... .. Duchemin's sworn enemy is Jacques Tricatel, king of motorway restaurants. Not only does he want to steal the originals for the '76 guide from Duchemin, Tricatel is also set on buying out several very good restaurants and force them to serve his horrible food ...
