Rae Carruth ist ein junger Football-Spieler. Als seine Freundin Cherica Adams ihm 1999 erzählt, sie sei schwanger, verlangt er die Abtreibung des Kindes. Als Cherica dies ablehnt, wird sie nach einem Kinobesuch erschossen, kann der Polizei aber noch mitteilen, dass Carruth vor Ort und Stelle war. Ihr Kind wird gerettet, aber Cherica stirbt im Krankenhaus...
