Despite some modifications in boat length and category since its inauguration in 1978, the Tour de France a la Voile has been a July calendar sporting fixture ever since. Joining the French English-Channel coast with that of the French Riviera, it sees crews of three battle it out to show their sailing prowess as they pass through a dozen or so French ports.
